Real Time Research, Inc. was founded in Bend, Oregon in 1999 when Ken Collis and Mike Hawbecker, together having spent over 20 years conducting environmental research, realized that there had to be a better way to collect, manage, analyze and disseminate field data. Soggy datasheets, handwritten notes and massive amounts
of data entry meant a messy and time-consuming process, with all too much room for error. Together, they focused on solutions capitalizing on the growing sophistication
of databases, hand-held computing devices (PDAs) and web-based technologies.

Mike’s years managing database technology with agencies and environmental consulting firms was invaluable, as was Ken’s extensive experience in fish and wildlife program management. Ideas were hatched, solutions were tried, tested and proven, the team grew, and Real Time Research was born. They have been successfully working with clients ever since. The employees at RTR all come from a science background, with advance degrees in wildlife biology, fisheries or zoology. In addition, our technologists have extensive experience in computer programming, database development and management, and graphic design. We understand data collection, analysis, management and reporting because we have done it. Real Time Research started with just 3 clients based in the Pacific Northwest. As we look back over the years, we have seen our client list double every year we have been in business and are pleased that over 75% of those clients are repeat customers that span both coasts. The RTR team’s industry experience, technology know-how, and passion for science makes us not only a capable partner, but also fun to work with.
